Description
This beautiful exotic hummingbird, has 6 sub-species, yet on the decline. Love the iridescent blue that shines on top of the teal feathers. Their tails are often longer than their bodies. Bill is short. The female will choose the male with the longest tail; a sign of good health in the male. This species can be found at many levels a long the west slopes of the Andes, even at feeders.

Marvelous! Such gracefully flowing portrait of this colorful bird, poised in mid-flight with extended wings and streaming tail feathers. A truly unique composition.
